Most of the news items and announcements below can also be found on the Ki Society USA site. They've been reprinted here as a reflection of the goals and activities of the Bay area Ki Society.
Announcements from the 2001 National Conference:
- Chuck Auster is the New Chief Instructor of the Virginia Ki Society.
- Pietro Maida to be named Chief Instructor of the Northern California Ki Society.
- It was announced at the Honolulu conference in 1999 that the site for the 2002 conference will be Seattle, Washington. The visiting instructor should be confirmed by the end of World Camp this year. The dates have not yet been set.
- The Virginia Ki Society volunteered to coordinate with other East Coast Ki Societies to host the 2003 National Conference.
- The next International Taigi Competition is in 2004 and therefore, there will be no National Conference that year.
The Ki Society USA Calendar of Events
- October 22-26, World Camp 2001: Shinichi Tohei was named new Soshu of the Ki no Kenkyukai.
- Summer: National Conference in Seattle, WA. Dates to be announced.
- June 16-23: Seminar with Shinichi Tohei. To be held in Honolulu and be hosted by the Hawaii Ki Federation.
- Summer: National Conference in the East Coast--dates to be announced. The Virginia Ki Society has volunteered to coordinate with other East Coast Ki Societies to host this conference.
- July 16-20 (tenative schedule): 50th Anniversary of Aikido
in Hawaii
Seminar and celebration, to be held in Maui and hosted by the Hawaii Ki Federation. Tohei Sensei may attend.
- Summer: Third International Taigi Competition in Japan. Dates to be announced.
Report from the Ki no Kenkyukai Headquarters 2001
The English Version of the Book, The Way of Union with Ki:
The Japanese version of the book has sold out. The English translation is in process, and only 300 copies will be made. Ki no Kenkyukai HQ has already received many orders. The English version will be published by the end of October 2001 and shipped out by mid-November, 2001. People attending World Camp this year will be able to pick up their orders. The book can still be ordered at the same fees if ordered by the end of April 2001. Chief Instructors should have information for ordering books.
The Release of the Latest Edition of Ki in Daily Life:
The revised edition of the book, Ki in Daily Life, has just been published. All the photographs have been updated. Much of the text has remained the same as the previous edition, except that the sections about breathing exercises have been extensively revised. Books can be ordered directly from:
